Darryl Ward was born on January 20, 1960, at General Hospital to Lawrence Henry Ward Jr. and Barbara Louise Ward. He was educated in the Philadelphia School System and proudly served his country for 20 years in the United States Navy.
Following his dedicated military service, Darryl continued his strong work ethic through many years of employment with SEPTA, where he was a valued and respected colleague.
Darryl was a gifted professional bassist with a deep and abiding love for music. Whether performing or simply listening, music was one of his greatest passions. He was also an avid O-gauge train collector, a hobby that brought him immense joy and reflected his appreciation for craftsmanship and detail.
Above all, Darryl was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who loved his family wholeheartedly. His greatest pride was the life he built with those he cherished most.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Yaritza Ward; his sons, Darryl Christopher Ward and Brandon Scott Ward; his stepson, Jamil Lawry; and his cherished grandson, Atreus (“Little Man”).
Darryl will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his honorable service to his country, his passion for music, and the deep love he shared with everyone blessed to know him.
